Red tiled roof with a brick chimney under a grey sky

Roof repairs

Roof repairs, done properly

Slipped slates, cracked tiles, leaks and storm damage, found and fixed so they stay fixed.

Most roof problems start small: one slipped slate, a cracked tile, a bit of mortar washed out of the ridge. On the coast, wind-driven rain finds those gaps quickly, and a repair left for a winter can turn into wet timbers and a stained ceiling.

We find what’s actually letting the water in, which is rarely right above the drip inside, and repair it with matching slates or tiles wherever we can. If a repair isn’t worth doing, we’ll tell you why.

Signs your roof needs a repair

Things you can usually spot from the ground, a window or the loft. Never climb onto the roof yourself.

  • Slates or tiles slipped, cracked or missing, often after a storm
  • Damp patches or staining on an upstairs ceiling
  • Daylight showing through in the loft
  • Mortar crumbling from the ridge, hips or gable edges
  • Gutters overflowing or dripping in heavy rain
  • Moss so thick it lifts the edges of the tiles

What we repair

  1. Orange clay pantiles along the edge of a brick house roof

    Slate and tile roofs

Slipped, cracked and missing slates and tiles replaced, including clay pantiles on older houses.

  2. Red tiled hip roof with a new dry ridge running up to a brick chimney

    Ridges, hips and verges

Rebedded, or changed to a dry-fix system so there’s no mortar left to wash out.

  3. Roofer working in the valley between two tiled roof slopes

    Valleys and flashings

Where two slopes meet, or the roof meets a wall or chimney: where most leaks start.

  4. Slate roof with a roof window and chimney pots

    Storm damage

Lifted and missing slates and tiles, and loose ridges, made watertight again.

How a repair works

Simple from start to finish, with no deposit to pay.

Start with a free inspection
  1. Send photos or call

Tell us what you’ve noticed and send a few photos from the ground or a window. We can often price a repair from those.

  2. We find the cause

We check around the problem, because the leak inside is rarely right under the gap outside.

  3. Repaired to match

Slates and tiles matched to your roof as closely as we can, and fixed the way the roof was meant to be.

  4. You pay when it’s done

No deposit. You pay once the job is finished.

Questions

Something else? See all our questions, or give Alfie a ring.

Can my roof be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes. Most roofs that leak need a repair, not a new roof. We only suggest replacing it if the slates, tiles or battens underneath are at the end of their life, and we’ll show you why.

Can you price a repair from photos?

Usually. Send photos through the free estimate form or on WhatsApp. If we need to see it first, we’ll arrange a visit.

Will the new slates or tiles match?

We match them as closely as we can in type, size and colour. Weathered roofs are never a perfect match on day one, but new slates and tiles soon tone in.

My roof is leaking now. What should I do?

Put a bucket under the drip and move anything valuable. If it’s safe, look in the loft to see where the water is getting in. Then call us or send photos on WhatsApp.
