The old town

On older roofs, the valleys, flashings and chimneys usually wear out long before the slates or tiles do. Repairing them properly, in lead, keeps an old roof going for years.

Newer homes

Newer houses have their own weak spots: dry verges and ridges that work loose, flat roofs over garages and extensions, and gutters that sag. They’re all small jobs if they’re caught early.

Roofing in Pocklington: your questions

Something else? See all our questions, or give Alfie a ring.

Do I need permission to re-roof in Pocklington?

Not usually, if the new roof looks like the old one. The centres of Pocklington and Market Weighton are conservation areas, so if you live in one, or want to change how your roof looks, check with East Riding of Yorkshire Council first. A listed building needs listed building consent for most changes.
