New red tiled roof and brick chimney against a blue sky

Up by the cliffs

Roofers in Bempton

Bempton is about four miles north of Bridlington, a mile inland from the cliffs. We cover the village and its neighbours, Buckton and Speeton.

Bempton has 18th-century houses along its High Street, a church that dates from the 13th century and the RSPB’s seabird cliffs a mile away. Its roofs are a mix of old and new, and the White Horse pub even has a roof of blue Dutch tiles.

Older houses on the High Street

Old houses are worth looking after properly. Slipped tiles, tired flashings and worn chimneys can all be put right on their own, and a roof that’s basically sound can go on for years. If one has reached the end of its life, we’ll say so and show you why.

A mile from the cliffs

Bempton’s cliffs rise to around 400 feet, and the wind comes straight off the North Sea. Ridges, hips and verges take the worst of it, and loose ones are the first to go in a storm. A dry ridge and verge system, screwed and clipped in place, keeps them where they belong.

Roofing in Bempton: your questions

Something else? See all our questions, or give Alfie a ring.

How far is Bempton from you?

About four miles. Alfie and George both live in Bridlington, so Bempton, Buckton and Speeton are just up the road.

Can you repair an old roof rather than replace it?

Often, yes. Broken or slipped tiles can be replaced, flashings renewed and a chimney repointed without touching the rest of the roof. When a roof has had its day we’ll tell you, and show you the photos so you can see for yourself.
