Cookie policy

This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Here's exactly what it does store, and why.

Last updated

In short

  • No advertising cookies, no tracking, and no analytics that follow you around.
  • A few small notes are kept in your browser while you look round the site, and they're gone when you close the tab.
  • The spam check on the estimate form uses its own security check, run by Cloudflare.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also keep small notes in your browser's own storage, which works in a similar way. UK law treats both the same, so this page covers both.

What this website uses

Everything this website stores in your browser
Name What it's for How long it lasts
ag-intro-seen Remembers you've seen the opening logo animation, so it only plays once a visit. Until you close the tab
ag-nav Lets the next page finish the smooth change between pages. Until you close the tab
ag-wa-told Stops the “Message us on WhatsApp” label popping out again on every page. Until you close the tab
Cloudflare Turnstile The spam check on the estimate form. It runs from challenges.cloudflare.com and may store a small security token to tell people from spam programs. It isn't used for advertising or to follow you across other websites. Short-lived, and only on pages with the form
__cf_bm, cf_clearance Security cookies Cloudflare sets only if it needs to check that a visitor is a real person, for example during an attack on the site. __cf_bm: 30 minutes. cf_clearance: set by Cloudflare, usually a short time

The first three are notes in your browser's session storage. They never leave your device, aren't sent to us or anyone else, and are deleted when you close the tab.

Why there's no cookie banner

UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) says websites must ask before storing anything that isn't needed for the site to work. Everything listed above is either needed to keep the site and its form secure, or only remembers how the site looks to you until you close the tab. So there's nothing to ask your permission for, and we'd rather not cover the page with a banner you don't need.

If we ever add anything else, such as analytics, we'll ask for your permission first and update this page.

Other websites

This website links to Checkatrade, Facebook, WhatsApp and a few other sites. If you follow a link, that site may set its own cookies, under its own cookie policy. Nothing from those sites runs on our pages.

Your choices

You can see, delete or block cookies and stored data in your browser's settings. On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, then Safari (on newer versions, Apps and then Safari), then Advanced, then Website Data. In other browsers, look under Privacy in the settings.

The site still works if you block them; you just won't see the opening logo animation. If the spam check can't run, you can still call, email or WhatsApp us instead of using the form.

For more about how we look after your details, see our privacy policy.
